Forget about all those whacked out computers covered in diamonds, flames, and car manufacturer logos  (Related)   that tell the world how much money you have to spend  (Related)  . Instead, impress the design school girl sitting next to you by whipping out a wooden computer.

Asus unveiled a prototype design at Computex 2007 that features a laptop covered in a beautiful wood veneer. There are no specifications as to what kind of power you'll get from this lappy, but according to the company, computers shouldn't be all about power, but rather how they look and feel. I guess that was enough to convince the show to give the prototype the Best Product Design award. Asus has no plans to market the wood laptop now, but if and when they do, I hope the package includes a can of wood polish and a termite inspection certificate.
