I'm itching to work on my cover but the computer lab doesn't open until noon. I keep Photoshopping pictures but I'd rather do the design in InDesign, which I am better with. Yesterday I spent like two hours reproducing the association's logo because the one they provided is ridiculously low in resolution. I also spent another hour extracting this photo to see if it would look cheesy as a silhouette. I've decided it looks cheesy. I used to be completely against silhouetting, but now I keep seeing it used in magazines and whatnot and I guess if it's done properly and you have an appropriate image, it looks nice. I also messed around with desaturating photos, which I don't think I'll do on this one, but I'm hoping somebody will give me a poster or calendar or something to design over the summer and I can do that then. I've made ten very rough sketches of possible ideas, but I'm not really excited about any of them. I like to use giant photographs but none of the ones I have permission to use are high enough in resolution, except the San Francisco pictures, but I don't want the emphasis to be on those. I wish I just had one really great, relevant, high res image, and that I didn't need to include San Francisco. Maybe I'll just ghost the Golden Gate Bridge and hide it in the background. Ohhh, but I had this kind of cool faintly textured background I wanted to use that was attempted in the 2003 Cornellian, where you put these 5% gold squares on white, but they horribly failed because they did something like 5% gold on black (idiots) and you can't read any of the text on the page.
